Ingredients

  • 2 cups of flour
  • A pinch of salt
  • 3 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of dry yeast
  • ½ cup of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1½ teaspoons of sugar
  • Cooking oil (as required)
  • Instructions

    1. In a large bowl, add the yeast and sugar, then pour in 3–4 tablespoons of lukewarm water. Let it sit for a few minutes.
    2. In another bowl, mix the salt and baking powder with the flour and set it aside.
    3. After 3–4 minutes, add the egg, milk, 2–3 tablespoons of cooking oil, and 1 cup of flour to the yeast mixture. Beat it well using an electric beater.
    4. Add the remaining cup of flour and beat again until a smooth batter forms. Cover the bowl and refrigerate it for a while.
    5. Once the dough has cooled, remove it from the refrigerator and bring it to room temperature.
    6. Knead the dough again, then place it on a tray and cut it into two-inch square pieces.
    7. Heat cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the donuts until they turn golden brown.
    8. Arrange the donuts on a serving tray and sprinkle powdered sugar on top, or drizzle with jam or chocolate syrup.
    9. Serve warm with milk or juice. perfect for evening tea!
